{"id":6805,"date":"2024-09-18T14:21:00","date_gmt":"2024-09-18T08:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lawfultalks3.selfst.art\/sc-lawyers-cant-argue-in-kurta-paijama-dress-code-must\/"},"modified":"2026-07-21T17:20:41","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T11:50:41","slug":"sc-lawyers-cant-argue-in-kurta-paijama-dress-code-must","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lawfultalks3.selfst.art\/?p=6805","title":{"rendered":"SC : Lawyers Can&#8217;t Argue In Kurta Paijama, Dress Code Must"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">&nbsp;<span style=\"font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:18px\">Petitioner Advocate Shailendra&nbsp; Tripathi recently argued in the Supreme court that the dress code of black robes or coats, or blazers&nbsp; with long ceremonial gowns of advocates, was a colonial legacy and should be done away with considering that&nbsp; the Indian climate&nbsp; is&nbsp; oppressive&nbsp; in summer&nbsp; in Northern and coastal parts of the country.&nbsp; &nbsp; In 2022, Advocate Shailendra Tripathi had withdrawn a similar plea that he made before the apex court who had then&nbsp; directed&nbsp; him to&nbsp; approach the Bar Council of India (BCI)&nbsp; with his grievance&nbsp; failing which he could reapproach the Supreme Court if no action is forthcoming from them.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \n \n \n <p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-family:Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif; font-size:18px\">Hearing&nbsp; Advocate Shailendra Tripathi in a petition for the second time the Supreme court bench of Chief Justice of India,&nbsp; Justice D Y Chandrachud, Justice J B Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra stated that, <strong>&quot;gowns are already exempted.
