Varale<\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\"> expressed their disapproval over the frowned-upon practice of Senior Adovcates appearing during court vacation.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \n \n \n <p style=\"text-align:center\"><\/p>\n \n \n \n <p><span style=\"font-size:18.7px\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;\"><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\">Such observation of the court stems from the hearing of <\/span><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\"><span style=\"font-family:TimesNewRomanPS-ItalicMT\"><em>Arvind Dham Versus Directorate of Enforcement<\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\">, where Senior Advocate Mr. Mukul Rohatgi appeared for <\/span><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\"><span style=\"color:#0c0c0c\">Amtek Group promoter Arvind Dham, who sought interim bail in a money laundering case.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \n \n \n <p><span style=\"font-size:18.7px\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;\"><span style=\"color:#0c0c0c\"><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\">Observing Mr. Rohatgi&rsquo;s appearance, the bench stated,<\/span><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\"><span style=\"font-family:'TimesNewRomanPS-BoldItalicMT'\"><strong><em> &ldquo;We don&rsquo;t understand the appearance of senior counsel in vacations. This Court has often commented on that,&rdquo;<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \n \n \n <p><span style=\"font-size:18.7px\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;\"><span style=\"color:#0c0c0c\"><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\">Notably, this is not the first instance where the Supreme Court has emerged as the flag bearer of support for budding advocates. Just last month the bench of <\/span><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\"><span style=\"font-family:TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT\"><strong>Justice <\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\"><span style=\"font-family:TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT\"><strong><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">B.V. Nagarathna<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\"> and <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\"><span style=\"font-family:TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT\"><strong><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">Justice Satish Chandra Sharma<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\"> had stated, <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\"><span style=\"font-family:'TimesNewRomanPS-BoldItalicMT'\"><strong><em><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">&ldquo;Senior lawyers should not argue cases during these partial working days,&rdquo; <\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">to senior advocates Mukul Rohatgi, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, and Neeraj Kishan Kaul, who appeared in a plea filed against an order of the National Company Law Tribunal.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \n \n \n <p><span style=\"font-size:18.7px\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;\"><span style=\"color:#0c0c0c\"><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">Further, in May 2024, the bench of <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\"><span style=\"font-family:TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT\"><strong><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">Justice PS Narasimha<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\"> and <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\"><span style=\"font-family:TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT\"><strong><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">Justice Sanjay Karol <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">also made a similar observation:<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size:18.67px\"><span style=\"font-family:'TimesNewRomanPS-BoldItalicMT'\"><strong><em><span style=\"background-color:#fafafa\">&ldquo;We want the younger bar to grow, that is all; vacation was meant (to be an opportunity) only for the younger people,&rdquo;<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \n \n \n <p><span style=\"font-size:18.7px\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;\"><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\"><span style=\"color:#0c0c0c\"><span style=\"background-color:#fafafa\">Nonetheless, in the present case of <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\"><span style=\"font-family:TimesNewRomanPS-ItalicMT\"><em>Arvind Dham Versus Directorate of Enforcement, <\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:18.67px\">the court did question the appearance of Mr. Rohatgi but the Senior Advocate was allowed to make brief submissions.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Coming to the defense of young advocates, the Supreme Court bench of Justice Sandeep Mehta and Justice Prasanna B.
